And it's off! Zoom zoom zoom!

Oh no! The postman lost your letter. Please try again.

I was born in England, near Hastings, but grew up in the South of France. I met, fell in love with and married my now husband after returning to the UK. We now live in Belgium where our daughter, Amélie, was born in 2005.

I am a lawyer by profession but like pretending to be a photographer in my spare time. I first became properly interested in photography shortly after Amélie's birth but that interest has since developed into a bit of an all-consuming passion. I love trying to capture the happiness she brings me and her uninhibited wonder at the world that surrounds us. I don't want to forget a single moment of this incredible journey.

I shoot with a digital Canon SLR camera and edit my pictures in PhotoShop. If you have any questions about my pictures, please don't hesitate to leave me a comment and I'll do my best to help. That being said, I know I still have lots and lots to learn so constructive feedback is really appreciated.

Anyway, that's enough about me. How are you?

(the pictures of me in the blond wig were taken by Tara Leigh, an inspiration and someone I am lucky to be able to call a friend - give her site a visit, you won't be disappointed! - and my logo was designed by the fabulous Matthew Nelson)

Living

Hoorah! Today the sun shone. And shone. And shone. We tried to rent a car for the day so we could zip into the forest for a walk but all the cars were already fully booked so, undeterred, we set out on foot. Not necessarily to go to the forest, just to get into the sunshine.

We walked all over town: right up past the Grand Place, to the Sablon (and all the lovely chocolate shops. No we did not resist.), then on to the Musées Royaux des Beaux Art, and down again, past the Old England building and the new, fancy-pants Square building. This is where this was taken…

Jump!

… just before we popped in to have a very brief look at the free Japanese Garden exhibition. Very brief because Amélie was looking very much like she might try to climb some of the exhibits and neither Han not I fancied trying to explain that one away.

In the end, we were out for several hours. So I don’t feel too bad about spending an hour sitting in front of the computer trying to get this to look right. I feel bad, just not too bad. And now I’m going to go and edit my picture of Han and Amélie having a smooch in the sun… I’ll post it later if the computer guilt doesn’t get to me first.

Smooch

Here it is. It’s not very good. I probably needed a lens with a smaller minimum aperture (I could only go down to 16) and I probably over-exposed but it’s my first time trying something like this. And, hey, Amélie cooperated! Quite the miracle. And now I’m getting up from the computer . And I’m taking Amélie with me (she’s sitting at Hanno’s computer next to me, playing on cbeebies).
